Thanks to my brother-in-law, I am now in possession of a copy of Adobe Illustrator. It's a lot to figure out, but I'm learning via the trial-and-error method. Here's a poster I made for one of our local Roller Derby teams.

the Kut-Up Kult!

Thanks to encouragement from my friend Sara (and my daughter coincidentally finding the notebook where I'd done some rough sketches), I have decided to resurrect this comic strip idea about a bunch of dim-witted Satan-worshippers. The Kut-Up Kult, ladies and gentlemen. More to follow, so stay tuned.

Spray paint, watercolor, and pencil, given some LSD treatment in Photoshop. I've always been fascinated with crystals, but I feel like they're becoming a little too common as a motif in art these days, so I'll probably stay away from using them after this.

I was thinking about my good friend Kristen today, so I drew this sketch of her. Miss you, K - come visit us soon!

Botanie 666 is my new brand name/marketing juggernaut. It's the theoretical name of the clothing brand I'm startng (mainly making shirts and things for myself). Botanie 666 Books will be the publishing imprint for my book projects. Here are a couple of ads appearing soon in quality magazines in your area.

Drawing/painting on an old book page. These little characters have been appearing in my sketchbook for a long time. They were originally conceived as part of a comic strip called something like "the Kut-Up Kult." The strip never made it off the ground, but I may allow these guys to make their way into "Kultus."

This is an drawing I'm working on for another book project. My method is to draw in pencil and scan the drawing as pure black and white, which eliminates some of the subtleties of the pencil lines and makes the image more uniform (an effect I like in this case). Coloring is done by dithering around in Photoshop. This one's not done, but I think it's interesting so far.

Out of Memory Preview

Here are some pages from a book I'm working on called "Out of Memory." The drawings are basically all done - I'm currently in the process of finalizing the digital stuff, choosing page order and so forth. I'm planning to publish it through an on-demand publisher like Create Space, so it should be available through Amazon.com. I anticipate the pub date being something like December of this year.
